The Holy Ghost Juniorate officially began at Ihiala on January 16th, 1953. The establishment of Holy Ghost Juniorate, Ihiala was intended to help, in no small measure, to nurture young vocations to the religious and missionary priesthood and brotherhood, and to help sustain the missionary spirit of the local churches that were being established.
The Holy Ghost Juniorate is the only Seminary owned and managed by the Holy Ghost Chongregation (Spiritans), Province of Nigeria, South-East. The Seminary serves as the Feeder of the Congregation in the recruitment of young catholic men for Spiritan Religious Missionary Vocation. Our Seminary is located along Owerri / Onitsha Express Road; so catching a bus is not a problem.
The name “Holy Ghost Juniorate” was inspired in keeping with the Congregation’s official name – “Holy Ghost Congregation”. Hence, the Seminary aims at imparting holistic knowledge, understanding, wisdom and other charisms from the Holy Spirit which constitute the hallmark of Spiritan Education. Spiritans are known in Nigeria for the promotion of quality education in their evangelical and missionary works as a gateway to enhance the integral development of local communities and the Church at large.
Therefore, sound education which includes the cultivation of solid intellectual and trade skills, good character and moral / spiritual formation is the Key to building a progressive and peace-loving society. Hence, it is against this background that education in its various forms has historically been at a central stage in the apostolic ministry of the Holy Ghost Fathers and Brothers (Spiritans). To this end, Holy Ghost Juniorate was set up on January 16th, 1953 at Ihiala, Anambra State, South-East of Nigeria, as a minor Seminary owned and managed by Holy Ghost Congregation under the protection of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.. click here for photos click here

A vision fueled by a desire to create a Seminary that provides a balanced education aimed at producing truly intelligent, skilled, motivated, spiritually and morally sound young men. And as the book of Proverbs puts it, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he grows up, he will not depart from it” (Prov. 22:6).
