Presently, Holy Ghost Juniorate has over 500 well talented and intelligent students from across the Country; although majority of students are from the South-East of Nigeria, almost all major ethnic groups in Nigeria are represented. Currently, Juniorate has thirty-five academic staff (all degree holders and full-time); the thirty-five academic staff do not include the priest formators who are also on the teaching staff. And every year scholastics on prefecting programme with one or two postulants are sent to assist the Rector and the formation team of Holy Ghost Juniorate, Ihiala.
Thank to the efforts and sacrifices of our teachers, for their unalloyed support and collaboration toward the education and formation of our young seminarians.. Each term of the academic/formation year, we organized Seminar/Workshop on Child-Centered Education and Teaching Methods for our teachers. And I must tell you that most of our teachers are doing great job. As teachers assess students, students also assess their teachers and give feedback. We modulate students’ feedback / reports with regard to the teacher’s input and interaction with students in class. The Seminary authority takes adequate action on any teacher who fails in his or her duty as a teacher.
Presently, Holy Ghost Juniorate Seminary has 42 full-time and qualified academic staff; the first of its kind in the history of this Seminary. For example, we have four Mathematics teachers, and three English teachers; we have qualified and seasoned science teachers with fully equipped science laboratories. The reason is to have close academic contacts with students, especially on the compulsory subjects.
